What is it?

Enjoy the hike of the Laugavegur trail without the burden of carrying all your gear and hike at the speed that you trust yourself to. We offer a 1-3 day luggage transport service to Hella, Álftavatn, Emstrur, and Thórsmörk.
This is a perfect solution for hikers hiking the Laugavegur trail by themselves or in a group.
Start by booking your ticket with Reykjavík Excursions with a bus stop in Hella at 10 am and start your hike the same day.

Every day from mid-June – mid-Sept.
Use waterproof luggage
We highly recommend using waterproof luggage bags such as duffel bags or backpacks as your equipment can otherwise get wet from rain and poor weather conditions. Keep sleeping bags and clothes in a waterproof bag inside your luggage bag for added security.
Tags on luggage
You must mark all luggage with the traveler’s name and dates for each hut in advance since we cannot bring the luggage without knowing the name of the owner.
Don't bring suitcases
Please do not use suitcases, plastic bags, or cardboard boxes for packing your luggage.
Road conditions are time-dependent
Please be aware that arrival times at hut locations can vary from the stated time depending on road conditions. The transport vehicle must cross snowfields, rivers, and rough tracks. Therefore, your bag may arrive at a later time than scheduled.
Undelivered luggage
Luggage that is not delivered by the customer on or before the designated time to the drop-off location, will not be transported.
Damaged luggage
Damage to any luggage shall be limited to the actual price paid by the customer as confirmed by satisfactory written or printed evidence.
For your luggage
Book your transport
Day 1: Drop-off in Hella Village at 10 am
Your bus ride with Reykjavík Excursions starts in Reykjavík and stops at Hella bus stop around 10 am.
Hand your luggage to our luggage transport driver and continue the bus ride to Landmannalaugar, where you start your hike.
If the luggage transport is not on the location, please put the luggage in Olis gas station at Hella
Day 1: Bag drop-off at Álftavatn
The transport vehicle will then transfer your bag to Álftavatn, where you will find it waiting for you at the end of your hike.
Day 2: Bring bags to Álftavatn hut
On the second day, you must bring your bag to the drop-off location by the hut in Álftavatn before 9 am where the transfer vehicle will transfer your bag to Emstrur.
Day 3: Bring bags to Emstrur Botnar
This is your last day hiking on the Laugavegur trail. You leave your bag at the drop-off location by the hut in Emstrur Botnar before 10 am.
Day 3: Drop-off in Thórsmörk
The transfer vehicle is scheduled to arrive in Thórsmörk at 4 pm.
From Thórsmörk your bag will be left at the location designated in your booking, i.e. Langidalur (Ferðafélag Íslands) or Húsadalur (Volcano Huts).
